Take Shape For Life
Many of my patients have taken advantage of our medically supervised weight loss program. Like many of you I myself have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. I have tried many diet and exercise plans with varied results. The problem has always been hitting plateaus and bounce back leaving me heavier than when I started. While studying for my Fellowship program in Functional Medicine, I learned why this happens, and how to avoid it. Every diet plan I’ve looked at has one major problem. While losing fat you also lose muscle. In fact, in some diets as much as 50% of the weight loss comes from muscle loss. Muscle is what burns calories and allows us to lose weight. As we lose muscle, we need fewer and fewer calories. This is why weight loss slows down as we continue to diet. It is also why we gain back the weight quickly and then some when we go back to our normal eating habits.

The Take Shape for Life program avoids muscle loss by maintaining a proper blood glucose level throughout the day while maintaining a low caloric intake. Studies done at Johns Hopkins Medical Center confirm that weight loss without any appreciable muscle loss is possible with the Take Shape for Life Program.
I have been on the Take Shape for Life plan and I have lost 50 pounds in just under three months. As embarrassing as they are I have included before and after photos of myself as an example. I feel so much better now and have a much higher quality of life. Like any diet there was some sacrifice involved, but results came so quickly I never got discouraged. By the way, although I feel exercise is important, you actually need to cut back your activity level by about 50%. At least in the beginning. This is because exercise burns up your blood glucose which can actually lead to muscle loss. The results I achieved were with a decrease, not an increase in my exercise level.

For my private patients, I am available for coaching in my practice. Because so many people have expressed an interest in this program, I have extended the coaching aspect via the internet. Through blogs and webinars I am able to reach out and guide many people that I would otherwise not be available to. As with any diet plan, you should check with your physician first to make sure you are healthy enough to diet. Diet by definition places a strain on the body. Pregnancy may prohibit you from dieting.
The Take shape for Life Program is not new. It is being practiced by thousands of physicians around the globe. It consists of 5 pre-packaged meals and 1 “lean and green meal” every day. In my case I actually saved money since the pre-packaged meals cost considerable less then what my normal diet did. The plan cost me less than $10.00 a day. My lunch used to cost me more. Once you get involved, you will be able to attend my web broadcasts on the subject of weight loss and get started on the road to health.
